IMG_0046

Checking in for Week 33 of 50 Weeks to a Lighter More Loving You.

This week examine your HUB…your spiritual practices.

What are you doing in your spiritual life to keep you running smoothly, effectively carry loads, and cope with extreme conditions?

Is it an active part of your life…daily?

Spiritual practices are ways in which one connects with God/Higher Power or what ever you deem is greater than your self.

Based on Sacred Pathways: Discover Your Soul’s Path to God by Gary Thomas, here are Nine Sacred Pathways or spiritual temperaments that God creates in human beings so that we can connect and worship God in unique ways:

1. Naturalists — love God best outdoors. These people worship in the midst of God’s creation. They celebrate His majesty and discover spiritual truths through nature;

2. Sensates — love God through their senses. These people worship through sensual
experiences — sights (like art), sounds (music), smells, and more;

3. Traditionalists — love God through religious ritual and symbols. These people worship through traditions and sacraments of the Church. They believe structure, repetition, and rigidity, like weekly liturgy, leads to deeper understanding of God and faith;

4. Ascetics — love God in solitude and simplicity. These people worship through prayer
and quiet time, and the absence of all outside noise and distraction;

5. Activists — love God through confrontation, fighting for godly principles and values.
They worship through their dedication to and participation in God’s truth about social
and evangelistic causes;

6. Caregivers — love God by serving others, and worship by giving of themselves. They
may nurse the sick and disabled, “adopt” a prisoner, donate time at a shelter, etc.;

7. Enthusiasts — love God through mystery and celebration. These people worship with
outward displays of passion and enthusiasm. They love new experiences. They love God with gusto;

8. Contemplatives — love God through adoration. These people worship by their
attentiveness, deep love, and intimacy. They have an active prayer life;

9. Intellectuals — love God with their mind and their hearts are opened up to a new
attentiveness when they understand something new about God. These people worship
through intense study, apologetics, and intellectual pursuits of their faith.

Do you recognize yourself in any of these?  You may find yourself in several of these and may see they change over your lifetime.

If you are not sure and want to take a Sacred Path assessment, go HERE.

With this list, we can see that there is not just one way to connect with God allowing us to utilize out unique temperament to do so AND to respect others in their way.

Encouraging to put your PATH into PRACTICE!

2018 Week 33: What’s Your Hub, Bub

IMG_0046

Week 33’s task of 50 Weeks to a Lighter More Loving You is What’s Your Hub, Bub?

A wheel hub is responsible for the main support of the wheel…The entire wheel hub assembly is responsible for the smooth and quiet rotation of the wheel…Safety of a vehicle depends on the wheel hub…A  high quality wheel hub allows a vehicle to carry  loads, function in extreme weather conditions, and run smoothly on rough roads

(Taken from a geeky car website, though in plain English for us non-car people!)

I’m not asking you to do car maintainance this week.

As a life coach, one of the tools that is most often used is a LIFE WHEEL.  Typically they look like this:

thelifewheel

There are lots of different versions.   If you are interested in how they work, go HERE.

I have a slightly different version.  It looks like this:

(If you’d like to print out a copy and do your own LIFE WHEEL and ACTIONS, go HERE.)

It’s hard to see but the HUB of the wheel says SPIRIT.  It is there in regards to your SPIRITUAL LIFE…right in the center of everything.

It doesn’t matter what spiritual path you are on as long as you are on one.

As a car site said,

The wheel hub carries the whole weight of a vehicle and the ability of a vehicle to effectively carry loads depends on quality of its wheel hub.

I do believe that this is true for life!

What is your HUB?

What are you doing in your spiritual life to keep you running smoothly, effectively carry loads, and cope with extreme conditions?

Is it an active part of your life…daily?

This week take a look at your HUB…your spiritual practices.

Feel free to share some of your practices in the comments.

Cheering You on to a Whole Healthy Hub Heart,

CHECK IN for Week Nine: SSSHHHH!!!!

download (1)

Week Nine’s task for a Lighter More Loving You was to SSSSHHHH!!  To be silent.  To find 2 hours of QUIET.

No Talking, No Phones, No Nothing!

How did that go?   Or is it planned yet?

Noise can cause…

  • hearing impairment
  • hypertension
  • ischemic heart disease
  • annoyance
  • sleep disturbance
  • changes in the immune system
  • birth defects have been also attributed to noise exposure

Not to mention STRESS!   Noise causes stress on our bodies and our emotional and mental health.   It’s hard to be more loving when one is stressed.

Is our world noisy?   YES!!!   Phones, TV, radio, traffic, people!

I’d say that SILENCE will be one of the things Doctors prescribe for better health in the future…if they are not already.   Dare I say, we may even have to pay for it?   And some already do by going on retreats, taking vacations, going to meditation classes.

Silence is important not just for your physical and emotional health, but your spiritual health.

Anything you can do to improve your spiritual health, and this is probably the most overlooked life area as most people spend more time on physical and emotional health, will greatly increase your ability to be lighter and more loving.

SILENCE is the best pathway to

  • greater INNER PEACE that carries over to all areas of your life
  • increased CREATIVITY and PRODUCTIVITY
  • a better UNDERSTANDING OF WHO YOU ARE
  • a HEART CONNECTION with GOD
  • the ABILITY TO HEAR INNER WISDOM leading you to better choices
  • an ability to JUST BE YOU in any situation

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature—trees, flowers, grass—grows in silence. See the stars, the moon and the sun—how they move in silence. We need silence to be able to touch souls.   –Mother Theresa

When there is silence there is time for introspection and to allow our true self to speak. I truly believe that with practice quiet reflection can help us reach a level of deep inner calm…The state of silence is a way of reaching another part of your mind not possible when going about your daily routine. This other part of your mind is connected in every way to the world around you and with practice you can tap into this knowledge.    –Steven Aitchison

Silence is the indispensable doorway to the divine…Can those who do not know silence ever attain truth, beauty, or love?  Do not wisdom, artistic vision, and devotion spring from silence, where the voice of God is heard in the depths of the human heart?  –Cardinal Robert Sarah

Have your 2 hour SSSSHHH session and then see if you can put 15 minutes in each of your days!   Your future Doctor’s order!  🙂

Cheering You on to a Whole Silent Strengthened Heart,
Barbara

images (3)

Checking In for Week Eight of a Lighter More Loving You!

Your Task this week was to WRITE DOWN YOUR TREASURES.  How is it going?  Are you thinking about getting that journal, about writing your treasures down or are you doing it?

There is so much power in BEING GRATEFUL.  Type THE POWER OF GRATITUDE in your search engine and read or be reminded of the power of thankfulness.  There are even scientific studies that have proven that GRATITUDE can:

  • open the door to more relationships
  • improve physical health
  • improve psychological health
  • enhance empathy and reduce aggression
  • help people sleep better
  • improve self-esteem
  • improve mental strength

HAPPINESS, JOY, CONTENTMENT and PEACE are also byproducts of Gratitude.

So many of us are searching for more happiness, joy, contentment, and peace!  We make it so complicated when all we need is to be aware of our TREASURES and note them!

Next to Forgiveness, Gratitude is your most powerful agent to a Lighter More Loving You!

Rallying You to a Whole Documented Treasures Heart,

Barbara
