CHECK IN for Week 34: Be the Early Bird

Checking in on Week 34‘s task of BE THE EARLY BIRD… to get in your night clothes and be in bed before the sun sets.

What is the point of this in regards to a Lighter More Loving You?

  • more sleep,
  • relaxation time,
  • changing up a routine,
  • trying something new,
  • becoming more aware of our patterns/routines,
  • becoming more aware of nature and the cycle of the sun,
  • the luxury of getting in pajamas and bed before the norm of the sun setting or of a go-go-go life.

This is the smallest of tasks but can have a big impact because all of the above can have an impact on our ability to be…

  • calmer,
  • less stressed,
  • embrace change,
  • be open-minded,
  • respond instead of react,
  • be fun,
  • and take care of our self.

GIVING YOUR SELF PERMISSION to do this, or other “out of your norm” tasks, is a key point.

What might be OUT OF YOUR NORM?

  • speaking up more or speaking less,
  • saying YES or saying NO to something you don’t really want to do or have time for,
  • being scared when you are scared (or any other emotion one might try to hide or avoid/fight through),
  • being spontaneous or incorporating a plan,
  • leaving dirty dishes in the sink or not leaving dirty dishes in the sink,
  • and on and on.

It’s good to ALLOW our self to do something different, to be different….to be our SELF.

What did you learn from BEING AN EARLY BIRD?  Feel free to share in the comments.

Checking in on Week 31’s Task of 50 Weeks to a Lighter More Loving You!

Task 31 was to pick a day this week to start something…to make a day this week your NEW YEAR.

The idea is this…

  • NOW is always a good time to start something or to start again when it is something you intended to do or “fell off the wagon” from doing (like a New Year’s resolution/intention).

  • There is no need to trash talk your self for not doing or “falling off the wagon”, because everyday really is a new day.

  • Guilt and shame are not great motivators.

  • New Year’s day is no different from today.

  • Seeing every day as a NEW DAY allows you to not wallow in the past, even the past of 8 hours ago, and provides hope and peace.

Many nights I journal about my day–what I’m grateful for, where I saw God working in my life, and a kind-hearted look at what I could have done better.  I am always grateful that, if I wake up, and so far so good, that tomorrow is a new day.  One where I get to live  again moving, often one infinitesimal step closer, to a better person.

Have a Happy New Year’s Day this week…and every day!

Checking in on Week 20‘s task of 50 Weeks to a Lighter More Loving You!

The task was to take 5 photos of moments in your life you may have missed if you hadn’t been given this assignment.

How’d that go?  Did you take some photos?   Do share, if you did.  If not, you still can!

How does this make you Lighter and More Loving?

Capturing, noticing, being completely aware of a moment in your life will make you more present and grateful.

When you take time to notice YOUR LIFE MOMENTS, especially the smallest of them, you are IN THE NOW.   Being in the NOW brings peace.  Your mind is not in the land of yesterday or tomorrow, but right NOW.

It takes lots of practice to be in the NOW.   As they say in my yoga classes, “your monkey mind likes to be any place but here…NOW”.

Let’s take this “NOW MOMENTS OF YOUR LIFE” one step further…

I’ve seen this quote for years:

and this one…

What are your thoughts on what that means?

To me it is about all those MOMENTS and not the awards, titles, achievements, etc.

How are you being with your moments?

The moments of…

  • hurts, disappointments, heartaches,
  • joys and delights.

What about specific things on life’s journey…

  • moving
  • training a puppy
  • loving your spouse
  • death
  • child rearing
  • traveling
  • purchasing a house; selling a house
  • paying your bills
  • being a friend
  • mowing the lawn
  • grocery shopping
  • meeting new people
  • mopping the floor
  • changing a light bulb

And on and on!!!

I’ve had many “successful destination” moments, so to speak, yet wasn’t always happy with how I was BEING on the way there.

When I started practicing BEING IN THE NOW….and not fearing or fretting….so many everyday moments in life felt like “successes” because I liked how I was BEING in them.

How do you want to BE in the MOMENTS of your JOURNEY?

Cheering You on to a Whole MOMENT JOURNEYING Heart,

My MOMENT CLIPS…feel free to share yours:

CHECK IN for Week 18: Put On the Put Off

download (1)

Week 18‘s task was to PUT ON THE PUT OFF!

More clearly, to PUT ON your calendar that APPOINTMENT that you’ve been PUTTING OFF!

It could have been a doctor or dentist appointment, some test you needed, a car or house maintenance appointment, or even that needed massage or manicure.

How’d that go?  Have you done it yet?

If you did it, were you aware of how it felt after you did it?

I know life gets busy and things can get PUT OFF and PUT OFF!

How does PUTTING ON the PUT OFF appointment help you be a Lighter More Loving You?

  1. SELF CARE is so important.  If you keep putting off what is caring for yourself the lack of “care” will start showing up in other areas of your life and in your relationships!   Self care promotes better other care.
  2. TRUSTING YOUR SELF…do you?  The little things, like making self-care appointments, builds trust for your self.   If you don’t trust yourself it will affect your decisions, your courage, your confidence, your self-esteem.
  3. REDUCING STRESS is aided by doing those things you PUT OFF!  Even if you are not totally aware of the stress, it is there nagging at your peace of mind.

When ever you start to feel stressed or low about yourself, check to see if something needs an appointment or if there is something you’ve been PUTTING OFF.
