2018 Week 19: Do You Know??

images (12)

Week 19’s task of 50 Weeks to a Lighter More Loving You is…

Do You Know….WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?

This week pull out that journal, notebook, or scrap of paper (that you might want to put in a journal or notebook!!), and make a list of what makes you happy.

You know that journal, notebook or scraps of paper that you used to write down…

it’s time to pull it out again!

The intention of this post is not to give a big shout out to the importance of JOURNALING to a Lighter More Loving You, though it’s tempting because it is SOOOO IMPORTANT!

If you haven’t been journaling, I strongly, with great vigor, and wholeheartedly, urge, spur, and inspire you to do so!

This week, set a timer for 10 minutes, get out (or go get that journal) and list WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!

I’ll share in the CHECK IN what researchers who have been studying “happy people” for over a decade, say aids in our happiness.

Cheering You on to a Whole HAPPY LIST IN YOUR JOURNAL Heart,
Barbara

CHECK IN for Week 15: Ask the ?

images (3)

Checking in on how Week 15’s task to a Lighter More Loving You is going!

This week’s task is to BECOME MINDFUL of the AFTER FEELING of your choices and ask yourself the question, “WHAT IS THE MOST LOVING THING I CAN CHOOSE OR DO IN THIS SITUATION?”.

It will take time to become an expert at answering what is the most loving choice for any given situation.

And each time you answer, it maybe different from the time before.

For example, sometimes the most loving thing is to choose not to eat dessert, where the next time the most loving thing may be to eat dessert!

There are a couple of factors in the “LOVING CHOICE” being different.

ONE…Is it a PLANNED CONSCIOUS CHOICE!

How many choices do you make that are not planned, and after, leave you with a negative feeling….maybe guilt, shame, disappointment, anxiety, etc.

This does not mean you can’t be spontaneous.  It may mean that on some choices there needs to be a pause to be MINDFUL of how that choice will leave you feeling.

For me, I find this very helpful with food and spending money.

A PLANNED MINDFUL CHOICE is more joy-filled and leaves the negative feelings behind.

TWO…Does it fit with who you are or who you want to be?

Who you are or who you want to be could be a lengthy discussion, but if you could fill in the blank to this statement with ten words, what would those words be?

I am about ________.

I am about…..

  1. Peace
  2. Simplicity
  3. Health
  4. Connection
  5. Joy
  6. Travel
  7. etc.

Knowing YOUR WORDS will help when you are making LOVING CHOICES.

Feel free to share YOUR WORDS below!   I’d love to know and they could encourage others.

Encouraging You on to a Whole Mindful Loving Choice Heart,
Barbara

2018 Week 14: READ SSLLOOWWLLYY

images (2)

The task for Week 14 of a Lighter More Loving You is to READ SSLLOOWWLLY!

This week schedule an hour to turn off the devices and read.  Cuddle up at home or go to a coffee shop with comfy chairs.

I came across this article not long ago…

“Once a week, members of a Wellington, New Zealand, book club arrive at a cafe, grab a drink and shut off their cellphones. Then they sink into cozy chairs and read in silence for an hour. The point of the club isn’t to talk about literature, but to get away from pinging electronic devices and read, uninterrupted. The group calls itself the Slow Reading Club, and it is at the forefront of a movement populated by frazzled book lovers who miss old-school reading” – Jeanne Whalen, Wall Street Journal    Link to article HERE.

I love to read, yet making time to read novels was a rarity.   I tended to find myself skimming articles and blogs, enjoying only the photos in magazines, and picking up work related books over a novel.

Then I saw the SLOW READING CLUB site and was inspired.  It’s not really a book club with discussions.  It is time to relax, unplug, and read!

There is something quite luxurious about cozy-ing up and escaping into a good story.

There are health benefits for doing this as well!  After you have your READ SSLLOOWWLLYY hour, share what benefit you received!

Encouraging Us to be The Whole Slow Reading Heart Club This Week,

Barbara

CHECK IN for Week 13: REFLECT

download

The task for Week 13  of a Lighter More Loving You was to cover your mirrors for a day.

Skip using a mirror to seek approval for your “okay-ness” based on outward appearance.

The “human” world spends much time on telling us how to REFLECT ourselves to others…from our body size to how to wear a scarf. No one needs a reminder of all the BEAUTY messages we get each day on weight, clothes, skin, age, exercise, nutrition, and on and on.

At the yoga studio I attend, there is a post-it note on the mirror that says, “You are beautiful”.

Is it only by our REFLECTION in the mirror that we can say we are beautiful?

This was the point of the exercise…YOU CAN BE BEAUTIFUL without seeing your reflection in a mirror!

When I start getting overly analytical about what I see REFLECTING in a mirror, I remind myself to concentrate more on my HEART than my HAIR!!

What do you want your HEART to REFLECT?

We are each “human” and “spirit”.

Work on your heart (spiritual life) and you will become radiantly beautiful!

The best part of becoming spiritually beautiful is that the only WORK you need to do is to have a spiritual life, stay connected in it, and the spirit does the work.

2 Corinthians 3:18 The Voice (VOICE)

18 Now all of us, with our faces unveiled, reflect the glory of the Lord as if we are mirrors; and so we are being transformed, metamorphosed, into His same image from one radiance of glory to another, just as the Spirit of the Lord accomplishes it.

If you haven’t gone a day without your mirror, I encourage you to do so.  There is nothing wrong with doing your hair, wearing makeup, taking care of yourself, or wearing nice clothes.  That is all wonderful loving self-care…and needed.  If you are overly self-critical or have a hard time going without your mirror…

Concentrate more on what you want your Heart to REFLECT  rather than your Hair and you will have a Lighter More Loving You!!

Cheering You to a Whole Beautiful Reflecting Heart,

Barbara
