CHECK IN for Week Seven: NIKE DAY

Checking in for Week Seven!   Have you had your NIKE DAY yet?  Have you taken 1 minute or 10 minutes to take care of that small thing (or things) that are adding to your stress level and TO DO list?

What is so important about JUST DOING the small things?

If you noticed from last week, most of the things I listed are in regards to my home. Maybe your list is the same way.

Have you ever thought of your HOME as your HAVEN?  That place you can relax in, be recharged in, be YOU in?

I dare say that it is the little things that pile up that can reduce our HAVEN to a BOX full of stressful things to do!  There will ALWAYS be something TO DO with our homes, but the small tasks take little time and add to the peace and your ability to relax.

How you do anything is how you do everything.

I don’t know who said that, but I’ve heard it over and over in my life.  I’ve learned that if I let the little things pile up, it suddenly becomes a dreaded, huge, long project!  Doing small bits over and over makes up keep easier, more doable, and less dread-filled!

Areas where this has proved to be true are doing my taxes, planning meals, house cleaning, yard maintenance, relationship issues, dental care, body care!

My time is more mine and my mind more peaceful.

Spending 5 to 10 minutes here and there on something (meal planning, grocery list making, taxes, flossing :)), actually gives me more time.  I spend less time wondering what’s for dinner; more positive thoughts knowing it’s healthy.  Less time shuffling through a year of receipts; more time cuddled in a chair reading a good book.  Less time in the dental chair; more money in my pocket.

The irony of planning and NIKE-ing those small things, which seems rigid, OCD-ish, less free-spirited, is that it gives you more time, less obsessing, and more freedom.

I’d love to know what you did on your NIKE DAY!  Send me and email or leave a post.

Cheering you on to a Whole Freedom Filled Heart,

Barbara
